The effects of poverty are real

This short video clip of Principal Lyn Bajaj at Field Elementary School in Littleton Public Schools reminds us of the real effects of poverty.

According to the Kids Count website at

  • In the 2015-16 school year, there were more than 350 schools across Colorado in which at least 75 percent of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch (FRL), a threshold commonly used to identify high-poverty schools.
  • In 2015, more than 320,000 children—one in four Colorado kids—lived in a family in which no parent had regular, full-time employment.
