Great Education Colorado drives educational excellence for all Colorado students by harnessing the
power of grassroots activism and diverse, inclusive coalitions to stimulate adequate and equitable

to lead their best lives. Great Education Colorado currently seeks candidates to direct communications
activities for this impactful, statewide organization.

Areas of Responsibility

Digital Media (Strategy & Outreach)

  • Branding
    • Develop and implement consistent Great Education Colorado branding
  • Social Media
    • Develop editorial calendar with daily posts for three unique social media streams
    • Create branded and shareable content
    • Moderate comments & evaluate engagement
  • Website Management
    • Maintain, update, and refresh Great Education Colorado’s websites
    • Develop material and pages for the Great Education Colorado website using WordPress
  • Newsletters/Email Series
    • Collaborate with staff to track email needs
    • Collaborate with outreach team to develop appropriate asks & calls to action
    • Develop a multi-platform distribution plan for actions
    • Manage list segmentation to ensure appropriate audience and maximize interaction via Salsa Engage and Salsa CRM platforms

Coalition Work

  • General Meetings
    • Attend monthly table meetings & present updates from the communications committee
    • Support monthly table meeting planning and program development
  • Communications Committees
    • Attend monthly communications committee meetings & complete related committee tasks
    • Collaborate with communications committee members on projects related to content creation
    • Provide feedback on broad communications strategy
    • Implement digital media and outreach strategy on website & social media

Base Building

  • Presentations & Events
    • Create organizational documents & annual reports
    • Develop presentations and supplemental materials for communications campaigns
    • Ad-hoc support for outreach & development projects
    • Provide day-of event support as needed

Requirements/Qualifications

Requirements

  • Committed to education equity and Great Education Colorado’s mission
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse individuals & organizations
  • Self-directed and comfortable in flexible working environments
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience managing social media (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Familiar with design software (i.e. Microsoft Publisher, Google Slides, Adobe Photoshop, Canva)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress
  • 3 – 5 years direct experience in Communications or Advocacy field
  • Creative with excellent writing and visual storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with Facebook ads and Google ads
