School Boards, administrators, teachers, and most importantly, students are grappling with how to deal with at least 6.12% cuts across the state for next year. Higher education institutions, students, and parents face possible tuition increases, as state funding for higher education faces down the Cliff.
We’re keeping close track of the impact of cuts across the state with local narratives (video and written), news articles, per pupil cut amounts, and specific cuts being considered. In fact, we’re giving people a chance to take action and add their stories to the Map telling state leaders …

Education Week’s Annual Quality Counts Data

Education Week’s annual Quality Counts state school finance data study is out, and the news isn’t good for Colorado. Although Colorado earned an “A+” for funding “equity” (click on Colorado on the map found here), we earned a solid ‘F’ for “funding”.



B.E.S.T. Signing

The Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) Act will replace and repair crumbing schools throughout Colorado, providing tens of thousands of children in Colorado with schools that are safe, healthy and educationally enriching. BEST marks the most significant investment in Colorado school construction since statehood. Great Education Colorado is proud to have been part of the genesis of this important legislation, having organized (along with Children’s Voices) the school tours that inspired the Speaker to work with Treasurer Kennedy and others to develop this plan.
